I am starting to doubt my coaches training program.... So I came here.
5'10 140 (bigger frame)
My coach has been saying I have the potential to break 10 in the 3200m. I've done all the work percscribed but I am still running slower than I want.
My training has been looking like this:
Mon: warmup 1.5,4 by 200m hills @36-37 second + 4 by 800's @2:40 -2:45 (feels steady, tempo)
Tuesday: easy 5-6
Wednesday: easy 6-7
Thursday: vdot workout usually 800's @2:25 - 2:30. Ex. 6 by 800's with 400m rest. *last time I did this workout I ended it with a 2:19.
Friday: easy 5-6
Saturday: 10mile run with 3 miles tempo @ 5:30 -5:45
Sunday: cycling for 2 -3hrs.
My question is what should I be doing....... Should I do more mileage but really slow like 7:30 -8:10 pace.
- My first race I did 4:49 for the 1600m splits were 69,75,75,69. My second race I did the 3200m in 10:21. Went out in 2:28, 5:04... Died. My most recent race I did a 4:53 1600m. Dog shit performance... I felt like my legs were not snappy enough...
- also during cross season I did my first two races then got a stress fracture on my tibia. During cross I bumped wayyy too fast like an idiot. 60 to 78 mpw. But I ran my first two races 17:15, 17:01
