1-2-3 in the 3000. 1-2-3 in the mile. The same guy that won the 3000, won the 5k. Then they won the DMR. Loaded with distance runners.

And the obligatory bupkus at NCAAs
Arkansas looked like Ole Miss' baby brother out there. John McD must be appalled seeing that performance from a once great middle distance/distance power.

MAN!!! Ole Miss is the best team in the SEC now!!!!
McDonnell must be appalled Arkansas can't even win conference titles anymore!
Oh wait...
Arkansas still won the meet as a team...
Call me when Ole Miss is actually competing for a track conference championship.
The Razorback distance squad is a shell of their old self. Sad for Hogs to be dominated in their traditionally strong areas.
I didn't know. But.....say hey!
Thanks, coach.

why doesn't SEC just run outdoors in winter, being in the nice warm south and all

Define "competing" for me. I'm pretty sure Ole Miss, by definition, was competing with Arkansas yesterday. If Ole Miss only put up 10 points, I would agree with you. That was not the case though.

Same reason they don't run outdoor track indoors in New England.
75 distance points (in 4 open events + a relay) is quite a showing for Mississippi. Arkansas is a more well-rounded program and took the team title.
We don't have to put down one team to praise another.
Ole Miss really put on a show in the distance events - 75 points, two event sweeps, and four SEC titles is no joke.
Is this the first time in SEC history that Arkansas didn't have a single podium finisher in any of the distance events 800 through the DMR?

Being a jerk often prevents you from making sense.
Northerners don't run spring track indoors because that would be dumb. It would not be dumb to run winter track outdoors in the nice warm south. So no, it is not the same reason.
The NCAA AND the IAAF both have championship meets for Indoor track. Why in the world would SEC schools not contest Indoor track and field when their competition nationally does? The climate is completely irrelevant. The P12 doesn't have an indoor conference meet but they all show up to the MPSF champions and compete at nationals anyway. Why should USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, ASU and Arizona even bother? Why should any country near the Equator show up to the World indoor meet? I'll answer again. Because their competition does. Give it a rest.
Winter in North Mississippi ain't that warm.
Engels is the only athlete who had to actually run in a real race. Everyone else essentially won the JV race. Let's pay our respect, but cmon...the SEC ain't a distance running conference.
Didn't Arkansas still win XC as well?
The SEC may not be the best distance conference, but it's certainly better than you make it out to be. Especially at the top of the events.
