So lately, I've been stalking those running blogs that a bunch of elite high schoolers like Destiny Collins and Rachel Mcarthur post for milesplit. I've been suprised- the mileage they do is reasonable, and nothing is out of my reach. I do just as much work, if not more.
So my question is: why don't I run like those elite high schoolers? My PR is about 2 or 3 minutes slower in the 5k than theirs. Is it because I am not as skinny? Destiny and Rachel look like sticks, I would estimate 100-105 lbs range, while I weigh 115. If I lose weight, would I get faster with the same amount of work? Is it genetics? None of my family members are athletic.
