Are "flat-earthers" an actual thing?

This is of course a very big troll. I would not be surprised if they are from Russia. Create doubt about science and the mistrust of the government. There are many sites disputing the moon landing and that is one of America's greatest accomplishments.

I fully understand this is a troll, but I find your rebuttals entertaining. Answer me this. There must be a few very wealthy flat-earthers in the world. Why wouldn't one of them fund an exhibition to the giant sea wall to prove the earth is flat? This would undoubtedly make them the most famous person on earth, and would bring unimaginable riches. Seems like a no-brainer to me, anybody gearing up that you're aware of?

Here's what you people are doing by replying to this thread:

1. Flat Earth Troll trolls for people that will argue with him, thinking he is serious about the Earth being flat (he is good, and a lot of you are stupid, so you WILL go to great lengths to "prove" Earth is round to him).

2. Flat Earth Troll delights in their efforts and discounts it with on-the-ready cut-and paste text, videos, diagrams, etc. refuting their claim. This troll works particularly well because there is lots of ready-made material like this to aid in the troll.

3. This enrages/frustrates easily-trolled people (which is the goal of trolling). They argue with Flat Earth Troll. He insists he is "not a troll, you people are sheep who believe what the government tells you, and here's some proof Earth is flat." Easily-trolled people scour the internet for counter-proof that the Earth is round (which Flat Earth Troll knows, but that is beside the point). This is exactly what Flat Earth Troll wants you to do. He knows the Earth is round. You are being stupid.(repeat step 2).

4. Although some understand it as a troll, many do not and can't resist, as he seems to be good at the troll, coupled with the fact that many people are apparently stupid and don't see it as what it is: a never ending, never resolved argument that is the very essence of a troll.

5. Thread disappears for a few months. Flat Earth Troll resurrects it, often by pretending to be someone who wants to argue with Flat Earth Troll. (repeat step 1).

Addendum: Although I have pointed out what this thread is all about in plain English, Flat Earth Troll will still, incredibly, be able to bury the post and continue making stupid people engage in the never-ending argument (see above posts).

Well, how could anybody doubt the validity of that? Wow, can't believe they're actually going! It's mid-November, I assume they've made some progress and are en route or even close to arrival at this point?

The law of perspective. The ship that you think has disappeared from sight can be seen again through a telescope or binoculars and this was in no way caused by it going over an imaginary hump of curved water.

Bring a telescope with you to the beach. Proof.

Does not appear they have made any progress, based on their website. There was a ticket price update on 11-10-2017, appears they are having trouble finding supporters who (1) have actual funds to support the cause, and (2) whose parents will let them out of the house for long enough to venture to "the wall." Appears that there are still 4 seats remaining, sign up now!

You can stick your fingers in your ears and shout as much as you like, the flat earth movement is growing and will continue to. People are waking up to this now.

Bottom line is that if you were to prove to yourself that your floor in your home is flat you would measure it. Now if we measure the floor of the Earth and can clearly see that the measurements do not show curvature and certainly not 8inches to the mile squared then, well....

And just so I am clear. The countries that are enemies and cannot agree on anything. 500 years actually. Now after 500 years of the globe theory and now having instruments that could go to low Earth orbit and check out their theory, if they found that this was wrong, would they tell you?

Flat Earth theory is relatively young but give it some time and we will uncover how it all works. We know the globe model is false and things are moving in the right direction, for example look at the work of Steve Torrence.
