Happy post-Thanksgiving, masters. DNF hamstring in Philadelphia last weekend, as feared. No one acute "pop" moment, but it was getting worse and worse from early on and had begun to alter my stride and cause other compensatory pains, so I pulled the plug and "finished" the concurrent half-marathon in net time of 1:25:27 (2nd in AG, albeit about 6 minutes behind the winner).
Funny feeling to be offered finisher medal, finish line photo, etc. when I was dropping out. I had some second thoughts on the way home as to whether I could have backed off pace a bit and finished under 3 hours, but probably better not to. Hamstring wins 2015 two to one, with spring (DNS) and fall (DNF) goal races to it, summer to me.
Just cross-training since then, with PT appointments lined up and a redoubled hamstring routine. Disappointing way to end racing year, but I'm determined to come back. I'll make 2016 the year of health and consistency first, race times second.
have a great week,
Dave
