I've only had knee and ankle injuries, personally. The other runners on my team experience foot, quad, hip flexor, glute, etc. injuries. I suppose that the feet injuries always tend to be the most devastating to a season though.
We had a thread on injuries a year or so ago that was very interesting. I asked how long you had run without an injury interfering with training. Lots of posters said that they had never had a major injury.
As you get older, as in really old, injuries become your constant companion.
To answer the OP's question, I'd guess that recreational runners have more knee injuries.
