All of these Beer Mile records are * in my book. As an old school Beer Miler, I am seeing all kinds of rules being broken. The latest video of the 5:51 has bottled beer, people opening the beers for the runners, and no one checking to see if the beer is empty. Hell, I don't even know what beer he is drinking (I am sure it is stated or listed somewhere).
Beer miles need to be done with a canned beer, opened by the runner after each lap, and it needs to be 5% or above ABV.
Am I being a huge party pooper here? Too much of a stickler? It's just that we used to follow all of the rules and now these people are coming along and ignoring them.
Maybe I will just embrace the change, but I feel like it needs to be addressed.
I will also state that 4:51 is very fast, even if the original rules are broken. I doubt he'd have any trouble breaking the record while following the rules.
