This is great, looking forward to watching her compete. I only wish Abbey D was racing too. That could be a great match-up.
that is fantastic!
Wish her well. She is awesome.
Cool to see Tabor Stevens racing
So Stevens and Dunbar are the big guns. Who you got?
Even when she was good she wasn't so hot at XC. Hope she doesn't embarrass herself too badly.
Could be different training? Is there an entry list available?
The Greater Boston Track Club will be there in full force. USATF-NE is directing the meet and should be able to have a start list on its website:
http://www.usatfne.org/index.shtml
Even I will be running the open 5km on the GBTC 60+ team and hope to avoid a personal worst.
Hope to see lots of old (and young) friends,
Tom
Well. She DOES have a 15:45 5k track PR; she can't be THAT bad at a cross country 5k even if XC isn't her forte. You might argue that she ran that 15:45 "when she was good" and that she couldn't do that right now, but still. Just wanted to point that out.
A 5K on the track isn't XC.

Abbey vs Cain in an xc race? that's not a matchup, that's a massacre.
Obviously. I conceded that point in my post. I was just saying she can't be that bad, even if track is her forte. I guess we will find out, won't we?
I think it is a good move by her coaches to get her into XC races, takes the pressure off, makes it so that the times are not "solid" or "raw" like they are in track and road races which could be demoralizing if she is in a slump. It's good to get her out there racing again if she wants to get back into full form, and XC is a fun way to do it!
Mary got 3rd. Results are up at: http://www.coolrunning.com/results/15/ma/Oct25_Mayors_set1.shtml
Why is it that New York trolls have to advertise their washed up runners? Go back to Europe you slow pokes.
rpjo was there and said he would try for an interview. Was he able to get words from any the high placers/?
On another Mayors Cup thread rojo said Cain declined his interview request.
Costello and Westphal are 15:30 type 5000m runner, so it's pretty good for Cain to stay with them (for most of the race).
Cain has obviously not showed progression in the past year+, but she is now not showing regression either. So that's good...
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
