Just posting some comments from last week now. Will post my week later this afternoon/evening after my "race"/workout this morning.
Godspeed, Slo-twitch, working harder, and Bonham! Wishing you all the best today, go get it!
sdp - So far you have been pretty spot-on with your goal - consistency. Keep at it.
back into it - Appreciate the race report. You have a great outlook on your race and your cycle as a whole. Moving forward, I am excited to see your Houston cycle. I feel like you are ready for something very big.
Niceguy542007 - Looking forward to see how you responded to 100% mileage and workouts after the recovery. I think 3:08 is a very realistic goal given how evenly you ran the last marathon.
kaizn - Very solid long run. The Paris Marathon would be very exciting. Have you visited there before? My oldest daughter would be jealous - her entire room is decorated in a Paris theme. :)
Running again - You win some, you lose some. Not much you can do about the Saturday weather. I would have a hard time squeezing in a tempo run on a lunch break, too. I try not to feel "rushed" on my workout days so that I can have a proper slow warmup and cooldown.
NUFCrichard - 37:20 is a solid 10k goal. Just over 6:00/mi. You had three nice looking sessions last week. Keep up the good work.
pewow - Yeah, when mapping out my cycle I knew last week was going to be a tough week to fit in heavy running, so I planned it as a recovery week. No use fighting the inevitable. Hope the plantar is feeling better. I find that slowly rolling a lacrosse ball under your foot works wonders for those symptoms and helps relieve the "congestion."
Hereford - Steady as she goes. I feel like your patience in building back up is going to be rewarded big time once Boston rolls around. I can see you start doing some serious damage to the roads as early as December.
Runnersfix - Once again, I think you are making the right call with CIM. Looking forward to the journey.
Forcerunner - One week to go, man! You have had a superb cycle of training. It is very natural to get nervous (especially for your first marathon), but I hope you can run with some serious confidence. You are very intelligent and I think you know your body well - you should feel like you are holding back the first half and wait to make any real moves until after 30-35k. Best of luck, I really can't wait to get your thoughts on the experience.
IllinoisRunner - Still going strong. Hope you did well yesterday so you can get the varsity experience at Conference next weekend.
oh please - Keep it coming. The first couple weeks usually require some patience, which you seem to have. Your plan for increasing mileage is also very sensible.
Oedipus Rexing - Despite feeling flat, you held on well during the long tempo. Mile repeats were spot on, and the weekly volume looks good, too.
SummerRunning - Lots of faster running there. I too think you should be able to crack 17 minutes in one or two more tries, just make sure you are taking it very easy on your in-between days to really give yourself proper recovery.
OklahomaGuy - That's awesome about your school getting a new track. Fantastic 5k race and report. You are rounding into shape very nicely. Your "Aâ€"goal should be happening soon.
Nop200 - Wow, serious mileage PR. And with a very strong long run to boot. Sounds like you had quite a bit of fun, despite the 30% grade section!
TheAverageRunner - Keep that motivation going, man. No need to be bummed about a single workout, especially since you were recently sick and had some lingering calf issues. Every now and then our body tells us it needs a break from the stress, and usually it shows up in a workout we had high hopes for that just doesn't pan out. The good news is you get to control the rest of the season - make the most of it.
TannerD22 - You have had a couple of fantastic weeks lately. That mile repeat workout was something else. Not only are you going to finish out your XC season strong, but you are going to DESTROY your 1600m PR in the spring.
Pikachu - Great to hear from you again. Like Bonham you are such a unique voice to the thread, and your training of course is something else. I hope you continue to post regularly again, even if the training is very light right now.
Matthias - Sounds like you got an early start to your birthday week last weekend. Ah, to be young again. :) Your consistency on your pace sessions is incredible. Still looking good for that shot at sub-32.
jwil - Good luck on the Boston buildup.
