So I've been feeling like trash on all of my workout and race days.
Basic break down; I'm fairly solid college miler and looking to not shit out during cross this year.
I put in a huge summer of training and haven't wavered since, pretty much 70+ miles for the past 3 months, with a 6 week stint at altitude.
During workouts, I feel like I have zero energy, during a 10x 800m workout a 2:24 pace felt close to all out, and it was the fourth rep. I've had many days very similar to this one in recent weeks, and as you can assume its been quite frustrating.
I've also experienced a lot of cramps and really bad stitches.
I had blood work done a month ago and everything was fine, but I'm going to start taking iron again just in case.
One big thing that is different this year is my weight. I'm down about 5-7 pounds from when I ran my 1500 PR, and I figured it was natural from the high mileage and didn't think much of it.
I realize this could be a burn out situation, but i'm not sure that I even believe in that. It could possibly be a case of over training, but again, I'm not sure I even believe in that
Basically what I'm asking is has anyone had any experiences where they've felt exceptionally shitty running at a lower weight, has anyone figured out any other off reasons why they've lacked energy while running, or does anyone have any other ideas what could be going on, possibly linked to the cramps? Would love to hear that someone has been through this and has some sort of plan of attack that will help me salvage the season before NCAAs
