One topic that is too often overlooked on these forums: the speed of high school coaching staffs.
Are there any high school coaching staffs that stick out? We're mainly talking distance here.

My coach in high school ran 3:45 for the 1500 4:01 for the mile and 13:50 for the 5k when he was pro in the late 90s. He quit running for 10 years and got back into it and ran a 34 minute 10k within a year and a half. He's like 39, 40.
Currently fastest? I would think Gig Harbor WA (Mark Wieczorek) would be up there. 1:15 for 600m and 1:45 for 800m
Drew Hunter (Loudoun HS-only HS kid to beat Fisher last year) is coached by his dad (13:30 collegiate) and mom (world-class masters 400-mile).
But then FIsher's coach posts here and is a very fast masters runner as well.
Wizzo is the fastest overall though.
Definitely Gig Harbor not only does Wiz have a PR of 1:45 but their assistant Matt Sherer has a PR of 1:46.11 (not sure if he is still their assistant or not).
What about depth of the staff?
St. Edward High School in Cleveland, OH is coached by Nate Brannen.
Gonzaga XC had 3 in top 10 at Nike Southeast Regional Coaches Race
Have to think they are up there in the power rankings.
Ugh. Only thing I could think of worse than living in Cleveland would be Tikrit.
Santa Cruz area coaches Greg Brock was 5th in the marathon trials and 28 something 10k. Dan Gruber of Aptos was a stud at San Jose State.

I think the width of the staff shouldn't be overlooked
Jim Spivey is currently at Wheaton Academy in Wheaton, IL.
3:31, 3:49, 13:15
Joe Parks, Palatine (IL) girls coach has broken 4:30 in the mile I think the last 15 or 16 years at least once, I think hes 38.
Are we talking current fitness or past results?

Current fitness only! PRs from "back in the day" don't count for this.
Wittenburg-Birnamwood in North-Central Wisconsin has some coaches with halfway decent resumes (sarcasm):
John Easker: Olympic Qualifier I believe, PR of around 13:30 in 5k
Cathy Branta: 15:07 5k PR (collegiate record at the time)
I am one of five coaches for our XC team (3 of which are former D1 runners) and last year in a road mile(that our kids prompted us to sign up for) we went 4:42, 5:03, 5:09, 5:47, 5:48(this was our lone female coach). Ages ranged from 24-33. Maybe not the fastest out there, but fairly deep.

Right. How could we overlook this one?
What does a fast high school coaching staff have to do with good coaching?
Some of the best coaches, by their own admission, were terrible athletes. Renato Canova. Joe Vigil. Jack Daniels said he started studying running because he was so bad at it.
I've seen plenty of high school coaches who simply say, "This workout is what we did in college" with no regard to the overall scheme/progression of training over the course of a season.
But, I wonder how many fast high school coaches are USING their programs to continue training? Hmmmm.
Harvard Westlake.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
