It seems obvious you've never been either....
Med school is filled, almost entirely, with rich kids. There is almost no one there from even a working class background.
And if you are paying for a PhD, you are doing it wrong. Very, very wrong.
Not really dude. The average medical student/resident/new attending comes from upper middle class beginnings but even most of us DON'T have a lot of money ourselves.
My family is relatively wealthy. Not CA wealthy but ok for Iowa/Nebraska/Midwest. However, that money doesn't get to me. I went to the same public schools as the "poor" kids. And as a "model minority" my 4.0 GPA (thanks AP classes!), volunteering, all-state athlete at a big school, and 90 percentile test scores got me nothing for scholarships while "disadvantaged" students from the same neighborhood got full-ride scholarships with a 3.4 GPA and nothing else going on.
The average MD graduate has about 180,000 of debt when finished and the average DO graduate about 210,000 or so.
You do have like 3% of a medical school class getting everything paid by the bank of Mommy and Daddy but the vast majority of us be getting OWNED by the government loans. Yes, we represent.
So phuck off.
