Fainting doesn't get you out of taking a drug test. Perhaps the drug (s) caught up with him?
You always have to pee in Mr. Pyrex if you want a medal after a championship meet. Doping control probably was with him the moment he left the track and until they got a sufficient sample.
but wasn't he rushed out by medics on a stretcher? wouldn't their job/the situation (if they really think the guy's health is in danger) require them to ignore anyone trying to stop them from getting the dude to a hospital?

Within reason? No. They'd collect a sample at the hospital under the right conditions.
But, it's really pretty hard to fail a drugs test. It's not like failed drugs test would NOTget a podium
