Not as under-appreciated as The Thamesmen.
I...don't think so. I assume you are young and did not live through Cat's prime @40 years ago; at the time he was very "big" indeed.
As you probably know, his Muslim conversion (in 1977) and his expressions of subsequent political and social leanings + his dramatic drop off in productivity since the 1970s have had a huge impact on how he is remembered/viewed today. Muslim-anything carries with it a very big "ick factor" in the US.
Cat Stevenz is for anti technoligy old people who got bored of whacking off in the 1980s.
"We're kind of chained to technology and so many things that encage us" - Catz
"Morning has Broken" was very popular at weddings in the 1970s.
He was okay but many far better.Listen to album Pink Moon by Nick Drake. Goddamn good die young.

He's appropriately appreciated.
Cat was huge back in the day. "Morning Has Broken" is a hymn he did not write, though I believe he gave himself a copyright, somehow.
Couldn't play guitar to save his life
Poor to mediocre song writer
And royal douchebag
Under appreciated by who exactly?????
