We are the leaders of all of the startups in this world. They look to us and ask us for help.
One of the most common questions you are asked is, “How do I get into your program?”
Read Shout’s article of gratitude. Listen closely to their journey. Listen to how motivated they were after they talked to a partner. Follow along and see where their motivation dropped and why it dropped. Listen for what caused the turning point: their mindset - I am determined to succeed whether or not this program accepts me. Their focus became one of growth. Only then were they accepted. Their shift in attitude is what prepared them to get the most out of your program.
There is a difference between what you saying to the founders who aren’t in your program and those who are. One type of advice helps founders accelerate. The other type of advice helps founders prepare to accelerate. With the latter, you are helping them get to that mindset of growth, which tells you they are ready for your program.
While we do that, as a team, we also need to figure out a way to serve them best at scale and that requires good listening. For these founders not in the program, make a list of what we are listening for:
- what drops their motivation?
-what resources do they need?
-what are their pain points?

Your challenge each day is to spend the most time you can to listen to these new customers and find 1 company you are excited about helping. Tell me about them at the end of each day.
