First off, let me say I know that it greatly depends on a million things. I just want to get a general goal to shoot for during the summer. Last XC season I ran 17:13,17:16,17:26 for 5K on correctly measured courses. This past track season I didn't do that well and I ran my 1600 Pr in a 3200 meter race. My 3200 time was 10:30 with the first mile in 5:12 which is my 1600 PR. I am very much endurance oriented. I never got into a good 1600 race and only got a good 3200 in the middle of the season. Last summer I ran 350 miles. I also ran a 1:25 half marathon in January. This summer I will be having hill workouts 2X a week and 1 tempo run (tempo runs sometimes go out too fast with my team) per week plus 4 days of either easy/medium paced runs, no faster than high aerobic steady state running. I plan on running 500 miles this summer. I am going to be a junior in high school.
Based on all this, can you all please give me a guess on what I could run this XC season in early November. Or at least a goal I should shoot for and that is realistic. Just wondering what everyone thinks I could get to realistically. I am definitely hoping for 16:20 5k.
Thanks
