This doesn't make sense.
I am a college runner. On may 15, after just getting back into my easy runningafter a 2 week break from track, I ran a 5k. I got a 19:31.
On june 1, I started transitioning from easy running only to easy running with stamina/speed workoutsa few times a week.
I signed up for a road race today, June 27, thinking I would PRand do way better than 19:31 (since I was out of shape when I did that race) but I got a 19:58 today.
My coach said "speed takes a couple months to pay off. The first 2 to 4 weeks you are worn down because you just started your training."
Is that true? I just don't get why I did so much betterback when I was in zero shape, and now with all the training I did, I did worse at my 5k. I'm so discouraged.
(I am using the Jack Daniels running plan)
