I can't say for sure watching it, but my best guess is that he is worn down from the long season. The hard 10K at regionals and a hard 10K at nationals and a hard 10K at USA's a week later proved to be too much. I think he was stopped after 24 laps as well. Jason Witt of BYU was able to hang with the front pack for a while and he only beat Lutz at Nats by 1 place. So that just shows that he is really worn down. Time for him to shut it down for the season and rest.
