This is the big story this morning. Several FIFA big shots arrested. Some news agencies are reporting that NIKE's contract with the Brazilian federation is also under investigation. Bribe bribe bribe.
Discus.

Discus. Great event. Love watching it. Think Harding will take worlds?
It's funny because you failed to recognise one of the oldest running gags on this website. Maybe the joke isn't rupp certified, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

It isn't a gag. And it wasn't funny in 2004, let alone now.
It is a tired "joke," like many of you.
Are they going to change the venues for the next two WCs? Russia and the UAE are shit-tier choices.

FIFA President Septic Blubber says no and is only opponent in the upcoming election is an Arab Prince with strong ties to Russia.
The only way things will change is FIFA member countries have the balls to refuse to play there.
Doesn't look like they will change venues at all. As terrible as these two are, changing right now wouldn't be simple.
I for one am happy to see so many crooks arrested. That's good enough as it is.
No sport is clean....

1. Being arrested isn't the same as being convicted.
2. Are there any countries that, at this time, could host the event with this late of notice? (Without relying on slave labor; a la Dubai.)
3. I wish people would boycott. But I want to see Germany repeat more than I care about Ukraine, Russian autocracy, bribery or human rights.

England and Germany are always ready. Perfect infrastructure / stadiums. The US could, too, by using football stadiums. Spain and France if you make some concessions (I believe they don't have enough 40,000+ all seaters).

I disagree.

What would be more interesting is to get a like investigation of USATF based on the same type of incidences. Lets figure out how to escalate this to USATF now!

I believe convictions are a formality at this point. The FBI went after these guys in Zurique, that is a tremendous effort. They must have a really strong case.
Also, this:

Right and ten banks were just convicted or plead guilty to currency manipulation and it cost them something like 5% of their earnings for that time period. My point being that a slap on the wrist is no way to change corrupt behavior. There will be no systemic change.
What will the punshment be?
Thanks for the article. Maybe the New Money Arabs bought Clinton off to ease his grief BUT maybe they'll both end up muddied in this. Win-win.
Changing Qatar would be easy...it was awarded earlier than normal and on the "normal" timeline would just have been awarded a few months ago. 7 years is more than enough time even for countries who don't have all the infrastructure already.
Russia would be more challenging but there are a number of countries that could do it without much struggle.
Can someone give me a sparknotes version of what has gone down

It's discuss. Saying discus isn't funny or normal, it's just a pathetic teeny thing that a few losers on letsrun say. Drop it.
DO NOT LET THE NEW A-HOLE IN CHARGE OF THE DOJ DISTRACT FROM THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACTS THAT HAVE TAKEN THIS COUNTRY TO THE BRINK OF FASCISM, AND THAT CONTINUE TO THREATEN THE CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC.
THIS IS JUST A SMOKE SCREEN, DO NOT FALL FOR IT.
If South Africa paid to host the 2010 tournament you don't have to be rocket scientist to know that both Qatar and mother Russia paid up !
Fifa is one of the most corrupted organizations out there , i would suggest complete overhaul .. Dismantle the entire Fifa start with the president all the way down to the janitors
USATF should be craving this sort of publicity. A one hour documentary about the sport on ESPN at prime-time.
(OK, it was ESPN2).
