I'm looking to make a big jump in mileage this summer before my Junior cross country season, roughly following this schedule to around 50 mpw:

I have never raced in spikes or road flats before, only road training shoes. Should I do the fartleks on this schedule in XC spikes? Should I start with shorter mileage in spikes and work up? I'm also planning to do barefoot strides twice a week after runs. Should I do those in spikes or barefoot? Thanks!
