Transitioning to Cross Country Spikes

I'm looking to make a big jump in mileage this summer before my Junior cross country season, roughly following this schedule to around 50 mpw:

I have never raced in spikes or road flats before, only road training shoes. Should I do the fartleks on this schedule in XC spikes? Should I start with shorter mileage in spikes and work up? I'm also planning to do barefoot strides twice a week after runs. Should I do those in spikes or barefoot? Thanks!

Dude you are way overthinking it. Bring your spikes to practice and run the last interval or two in them. If you can run a mile or two without them exploding, you are good to go for a 5k. Good luck!

In addition to the above advice, do strides afew times each week in XC spikes.

In addition to the above, high focus on calf flexibility.... they will get tight for the first two weeks or so.
