I haven't seen Eli Krahn's name in any results this spring. This kid has incredible talent but seems to be as fragile as glass. Anyone have updates? Is he injured again?

Hurt again. Coach won't comment on specifics to the media.
Who's to say he has 'incredible talent', when his results stem from being mercilessly flogged. Now, the inevitable injury toll is mounting, and he will likely amount to nothing, just like most of the other youth prodigies.
I don't care how hard you "flog" him, 4:09 and 8:58 as a freshman is absolutely insane and indicates unbelievable talent.
Talent means a lot of different things
As someone who ran in high school in MN until this year and still follows it closely, I can tell you the almost unanimous consensus is that he has a stress fracture in his femur like a year ago. Their coach is good and all, but Sebastian Coe-like intensity has taken its toll on Krahn, however most of their great runners avoid injury.
P.S bragging time: I beat him my Sophomore and his 8th grade year in XC.
Maybe he can fully heal and come back next year.
Thanks for the update D1inourhearts. I don't have first hand knowledge of his handling of Krahn but Scott Christiansen is known as one of the best HS middle distance coaches in the country. Could be that Krahn just can't handle the speedwork that is a staple of the program. I hope they figure it out so Krahn can continue with his career. He seems to be somewhat like Kai Wilmot. Huge talent but fragile.
Christiansen is a lunatic who has an inflated reputation. He relies on Horwill's multipace work taken to an extreme to hammer young men into shape, forsaking long-term development. Blankenship has succeeded despite his ridiculous HS program.

Help me out then - who are the others like Krahn who were hammered into injury oblivion? Because I know there have been more than Blankenship who have went on to be quite successful...
Good careers: Luke Watson, Jake Watson, Ben Blankenship, Sean Graham, Andy Tate...
Injured out: Krahn (so far), ???

Yup, and Tom Linner has been a solid contributor to UW-La Crosse and Sean Bjork just made the 1500 final in D3 as well. Stillwater Milers
I wouldn't go so far as to dismiss his entire coaching strategy, however it does seem to help that he coaches the biggest/second-biggest school in MN depending on the year. IDK how it is in other states, but the rich suburb schools (i.e. Stillwater, Edina, Wayzata) seem to have a horde of dedicated, genetically talented runners year after year, while my school of 1500 students struggled to get 5 kids under 17:00. Bill Miles,Scott Christensen, and whats-his-face from Edina are all definitely great coaches in different ways, and I don't know nearly enough about the sport to argue against that. But I can't help but wonder how their supposedly brilliant strategies would hold up at smaller, less talented schools.
I will say that these schools, particularly Wayzata and Edina, have very strong work ethics as a whole compared to other teams. Their summer running programs are followed by virtually all their team, (probably helped by the fact that none of them actually have to work during the summer.)
It does seem like more could be done to protect Krahn, but I guess I don't really know for sure. It is ultimately up to Miles, and he seems to have been successful in the past.
Of course it is not up to Miles, who never coached him and is now retired.
Christensen, my bad.
THIS HAS TO BE A JOKE!! LOL!! A lunatic? Wow! Strong choice of words there. Best coach there is
Regretting this now?
Anyone have any word on where he's going to college?

BUMP?
I hear he's going to princeton. Eli's been getting back into form this season, so it will be interesting to see if he ever reaches his full potential under vig.
He peaked
