Is there any benefits of going to a running camp when your in high school ?
The benefits are:
1. Going with your friends
2. Meeting new friends
3. Having fun with people who share the same interests that you do
There is no real training benefit you can get from a single week. A real "training camp" that was focused on actually improving your fitness would have to be 5-6 weeks long.
Some camps offer mental/race strategies that are beneficial to the runner. They also tend to train harder when they are at camp versus just running on their own. They gain knowledge and discipline from the programs, at least from our experiences.
Another benefit is getting to run somewhere nice every single day with a bunch of people. Running alone can be a drag, you want to quit sometimes. With a big group, you never want to cut a run short unless you're feeling sick.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
