Well, in the blink of an eye we've gone from having the qualifying window open to full blown last minute panic. I just want to say good luck to everyone shooting for that goal.
That being said, if you're sitting pretty on a qualifier or you've been in that position before, which races would you look at to get ready for a February '16 Marathon on the LA course? I understand a lot of people will be avoiding a fall marathon, but let's keep that option open. A couple things to consider:
1- Assume you live in New England but are up for traveling to high quality, well organized, competitive, or fast races.
2 - Assume that registration for the races could be an issue (Many of the OT qualifiers don't qualify for full treatment at races, but they can usually get free entries.)
3 - Assume that traveling isn't always conducive to great performances.
4 - Assume the more competitive for the 2:18 to 2:43 crowd, the better.
5 - Assume that you'll be training through these races, to a reasonable extent, since peak mileage will be in the fall.
The ones I'd put out there at this point would probably be Beach to Beacon and Falmouth for 10k/7 miles. Are there equally competitive "shouldn't miss" half-marathons or other road races in the months of Sept-Jan for this crowd?
