The article begins with the absurd statement that Cabada is one of the best Hispanic athletes in the history of United States. I could not get past that hyperbole. He is not even in the running for best Hispanic male track athlete/runner conversation, much less against the best in other sports. The guy is a decent marathoner but no reasonable argument can be made he is nearly as good as Leo Manzano or Alberto Salazar.
I remember seeing a very similar article about him a few years. One thing that really rubs me the wrong way is athletes who constantly harp on the hardships they have had to deal with. Granted Fernando's childhood sounds very tough growing up in poverty, and his father situation. But he is not the only athlete who has had to deal with adversity, there's many guys who have dealt with tough upbringings or other issues. It seems to me he's made some choices along the way that have been questionable.
Another thing that gets me is the way he's living in his 30s, barely getting by, no health insurance yet he only runs 100mpw. That' pretty minimal training for a marathoner at this level. Could you really not either train harder, or work a job so you don't have to drive 12 hrs for a free opinion on a muscle injury?

Sometimes, the dumbest of the dumb people here are indistinguishable from clever trolls (see: Poe's law). This is clearly the work of the real deal, though.
Where to begin?
1. The idea that Cabada should live to satisfy you or anyone is pretty messed up. if things about him "get" you, then you should probably retrieve your head from within your ass, even if this requires a couple of truckloads of TNT.
2. The idea that 100 miles a week is "pretty minimal training" for an elite marathoner. This one doesn't need any elaboration.
3. Anywhere else in your post, which is written in a language very much like English but distinguishable from it in non-negligible ways.
I don't even know Cabada and if I did I wouldn't necessarily like him, but people like you are a big reason why I'm happy I quit running seriously after college and focused on endeavors in which I didn't have to deal with very many no-holds-barred shitbrains.

if anything about cabadas life rubs u the wrong way it says much more about your insecurities than it says about him....jealous p.o.s.
I am pretty sure you cant run a 2:11 marathon...on any amount if mileage...
I was rooting for Cabada to do well at Boston, and I admire his persistence. I would have to agree, though, at least in regard to some of his choices. To be moving around like that year after year is probably ill-advised for anyone, but especially for a runner. A runner needs stability and continuity. Without this, I cannot envision a distance runner being very successful.
In regard to weekly mileage, it would seem that Cabada's 100mpw may be fine...it seems Ritz did quite well on 90mpw.

Neither can Cabada anymore.
But at least he hasn't stabbed anyone in a couple years, so good on him.
