Whats up running world,
I am a high school sophomore who runs and trains at altitude (5,500 feet) and I ran 4:31 in the 1600 and 1:59 in the 800 as a freshman. Right now in my sophomore season I am in a major funk, and cant seem to run a single good race. I got my mileage up this winter as well as my speed workouts for the 800. Training is not the problem because I am in a program that has produced many great runners. I feel like I have a mental block right now, and I am looking for suggestions to help me get out of it.
Thanks
If the same coach has helped you run well in the past, it seems that coach should know how to guide you through a trough in results. Otherwise, insist on doing something other than running for 3 or 4 days, whether it's a different outdoor pursuit or sitting in front of the TV. If training isn't challenging your mind enough, it's easy to think of it as a chore and not fun. At the least, a different sport will rest your running muscles, or sitting in front of the TV will bore or depress you enough to realize running is a good idea.
