Yes, easily.
No.
No. Are we to believe a fellow that has run 26:44/26:48, sub 13 and a 3:50 mile couldn't tempo a marathon faster than 2:18 or whatever it would take?
how big of a head start are you giving Canaday?
I would imagine that if Rupp took some ADD meds or something and could focus, he'd have no trouble running a 2:15.
But a marathon on trails that definitely aren't Rupp certified? He'd DNF or finish 20 minutes+ back.
If its a Rupp certified marathon then no.
Depends.
Sage has this great background of trails and whatnot. Like running on dirt.
But Galen is exclusively on track. There are advantages and disadvantages to both IMO. But if I had to say it would be Rupp especially if the course was like only on the track but I don't think you can do that so Sage then would win.
1. Sit
2. Kick
I don't particularly care for Rupp or NOP, but I don't think there's any doubt he could run 26.2 miles at 5:15 pace pretty easily.
Why is this guy even being compared to Rupp? Sage is that you? Self promoting egotistical Douche
Rupp ran sub 61 for half, sage isn't even winning the shorter mountain races so clearly he hadn't got the talent to compete in the roads or track against a guy like that. sage moved to short mountain races to be competitive then to ultra when he couldn't hack it there. Lame
PBs don't matter in a DNF.
Another post started by Canaday. We are talking about a guy that Missed running sub 2:20 last month.
Better race might be Shalane.
The ignorance in this post is phenomenal. Everyone who has posted so far has either not run a marathon or just have hate for Sage. Sage ran 2:20 on two months of training after an injury. Rupp would be a DNF or a DNS.

Nice try troll. Rupp could run 2:10 in his sleep, as a post-race workout after some stellar track race. (don't laugh, AlSal might have him do this someday).
Sage can run.....what did he run? 2:20? We'll give him 2:18 on a better day. Still not close.
As others said: Sage vs Shalane. Now there's a match-up. Sage should pace Shalane. No shame in that, more like an honor. wejo paced Paula, right? Sage should pace Shalane and then see if he can outkick her. He might get that qualifier.
Rupp could get up off the couch and win by at least a mile and a half. With a month or two of marathon work, he'd win by 2+ miles. Sage couldn't break 2:20 last month. Rupp would be at least 2:12 right now and would be at least 2:09 with any serious training. With a proper buildup, he should be shooting 2:06.

Isn't this whole thread a rather lame troll attempt?

So, you're asking if the fake runner could beat the real runner?
Could Randy Orton defeat Artur Taymazov in a real wrestling match? No, guess what, the actual Olympic medalist would win easily. In both cases.
yes, ultra is the WWE of the running world. A place where those who can't compete in Olympic events go to find some "success", or something.
I guess winning is winning. Winning an eating contest still makes you the winner of something right? Except I've heard of Joey Chestnut and I had to google the Canaday guy.
You guys are crazy. Rupp is coming off a terrible indoor season and has never done marathon training in his life, no way he could run sub 2:20 right now.

Let's say you had a friend who wanted to know if you thought he could break 2:18, and you asked him what he's done over the last three years, and he gave you a training history that mirrored Galen Rupp's last three years in every way. You're going to tell that friend that he won't break 2:20?
Maybe this is why you don't have any friends.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
