Now that San Francisco's Kezar Stadium Track has finally been renovated and the new track has been laid out, my group went out to resume our weekly Wednesday night workouts and found that a girl's soccer game had monopolized the stadium all evening for several hours.
For any of you in the know, I pose the following questions:
1. What will be the Wednesday night schedule from now on? I only see the next month online, but the high school that played last night will also be playing at Kezar next week and two weeks after that.
2. In general is there going to be a departure from how the track was being used, or is this just because of the renovation somehow?
3. Why can't runners use the track while soccer games are going on? Is high school soccer suddenly so high stakes that we can't risk coming close to the game? Are the 20 parents sitting in the stands going to have trouble seeing their darlings on the pitch?
4. Why are high school girls playing soccer games at night instead of after school? Adults can't reasonably be expected to use the track before 5 but there's no reason why the girls can't.
The whole thing is ridiculous because there were hundreds of runners who wanted to use the track last night doing things around the upper ring, whereas there were like 4 dozen people there for the soccer game, total.
I'm sure I've forgotten several things from my rant but I think this is a good starting point. Feel free to pile on as you like.
