I am a California high school cross country and track athlete from the Southern Section. I started running freshman year XC season, and didn't have too many outstanding races, my best being 16:22 for the Woodbridge course. Freshman track season however, I had more success as I broke 2 in the 800 and ran in the 4:20s and sub 9:40. I split 4:19 as a freshman also in my leg in the 4x1600 @ the Mt. Sac Relays. Sophomore XC season was a struggle as well, as I ran 15:25 for my 3 mile season best and dealt with nagging injuries. Track season also had its up and downs, since I only ran one second faster in the 1600 in a relay split and improved only 6 seconds in the 32 from Freshman year. However I also ran a 49 second split in the 4x400. Surprisingly, the race in which I saw the most improvement was the 800, as I ran 7 seconds faster than I did freshman year (1:52). As a Junior now, I feel stronger and believe my endurance has improved considerably. I ran 14:17 at Woodbridge and 15:03 @ Mt. Sac. I have already improved in the 1600 by a lot of seconds in a indoor meet I ran at Fresno. Is sub 1:50 and sub 4:09 realistic for me?
