Not surprised, I called 8:19 in the prediction thread earlier.
Historically he's never been that fast at his BEST distance (800m) indoors so I don't see any reason why he'd be able to run a particularly quick 3k.
Makes me wonder if he's going to follow through on his plans to run a 5k outdoors, he said he was shooting for 13:50's and somehow after today I doubt he'd be able to come even remotely close.
At this point I'm just questioning whether or not he'll make it to Beijing in the 800 and if so, to the final. On the other hand, if Nick actually decides to go for the 1500 then I'm 99% he won't make the team.
Can we turn down the hype machine on this guy until he proves he's ready to run well again? He's been screaming for attention, selling gum, and running times (beer mile, 3k) that deserve no mention.
ugh. back to back 4:10s for a guy who has ran 3:3X means he is NOT in very good shape at all. what is his deal, has been out of shape for a year now.
The dude just ran 6x his normal distance. Chill out on him not running a great time. That wasn't the point. Try throwing a 400m runner into a 1.5 mile race. Let me know how that goes

Run that by me again. 3000m / 800m = 6?
the screen name of dingusses is especially ironic.
Actually less than 4 times his distance (800 x 6 = 4800).

Smart guy would be ironic. Dingusses is just fitting.
I was wrong. He's just not in good shape right now.
He'll never make another World or Olympic team. He left his coach and the OTC after running 1:42 and then getting Silver at Worlds. The endorsements he left Nike for won't be there if he doesn't start racing well.
The less pessimistic outlook is that he's doing heavy training right now and the 8:20 doesn't mean anything.
He has lost that jaw line from two years ago. hmmmmm
I like how there was all this hype about him, but he wasn't even in the fast heat
It's sad because Genzibe Dibaba has run faster indoors than Symmonds and she did it on a normal sized track...even worse Symmonds ran that on an oversized track. The top high schoolers would be pretty close to him too. He's gotta step it up

Why does he need to step it up? He is an 800 runner. Are the top high schoolers close to 1:42?
I would look at it as he was getting in some strength work for his 1500.
He seemed completely upbeat after the race, hanging out with some Oregon athletes.
He didn't seem worried, and it is indeed, too early to worry.
He's coming back from injury, and it's early, if he is at that level of fit in July, you can worry.

It's "has run," not "has ran." Run is the past participle of run; ran is just the preterite.
in germany we learned that in 7th grade

And when did you learn capitalization and punctuation?
I'm really disappointed
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
