Why is Josh Gordon being suspended for testing positive for alcohol. Last time I checked he was 21 and it was legal here in this country.
thanks

Not drinking is one of the conditions of the substance abuse program he's in. Clearly, he has a problem.
He can drink while being apart from the NFL.
He just can't drink while being a part of the NFL.
Besides the history of substance abuse, he was arrested on DUI charges over the summer and pled guilty in September. So yeah part of the deal is no alcohol.

No it's not illegal Stick. The guy has a problem. It's his 5th or 6th violation of NFL drugs and substance abuse policies.
This might be the first stick thread that I've ever agreed with. The NFL has it out for this guy. He got a DUI once, which is an incredibly stupid and selfish decision. However, everyone makes mistakes, and it hardly indicates that he has a problem. Otherwise, he enjoys weed and alcohol no differently than millions of Americans. I hope he is able to have a productive career, because he's incredibly talented, and he's not a violent criminal like some players who are currently active.
Is it not a fact that NFL players cannot endorse alcohol products on TV the way actors like Ray Liotta can endorse Tequila?

you are the worst kind of person. or a troll. which is the second worst kind of person.
That Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, is not required to be tested for alcohol even though he was arrested for DUI and drug possession.
Fire fighters are required to be non-smokers: at work, and outside of work. Smoking is not illegal, but if you want that job smoking is a no-go.

If you are told not to drink alcohol as a condition of continuing to do what provides money for you and your family and you still drink you have a problem. Josh has a problem.
Checking into rehab is a tell-tale sign of a problem.
He also failed 3 drug tests at college.
"According to sources with four NFL clubs, Gordon failed three drug tests as a collegian. The first two came at Baylor. The latter, according to these sources, came after charges were dropped in his marijuana-related arrest of 2010, and that led to his dismissal from the Baptist school, which has a reputation for being tough on drugs. That led to his transfer to Utah, where he failed another drug test."

Elaborate, please. You may disagree with what I said, but how does my argument make me a terrible person?
Valid point about continuing to do something even though it endangers his career. Clearly, Gordon isn't the best decision-maker, but he isn't doing anything that hurts himself or others. Even though he should stop for the sake of his job, I still believe that the NFL has its priorities misplaced in how it handles cases like this.
Even worse than his substance abuse, he is a clubhouse cancer. If any team picks him up after he is cut, I will be surprised.

lol
He's a punk with no impulse control and WILL be arrested for violent crime(s) in the future. No doubt about it.

Really? You'll be surprised if an NFL franchise bypasses morality for a good player? Is this your first day?
