There's a freshman kid on my track/cross team who asked me what he should expect to run this spring in track, and I wasn't exactly sure what to tell him so I thought I'd ask this crowd. He ran 2:13 and 5:05 in the 800/1600 in 8th grade with really no formal training. He's also a talented overall athlete and starts on the freshman basketball team. This fall in cross he suffered a freak accident not related to running that knocked him out for the first two weeks of the season, but still managed to come back and run a 17:58 5k at conference on a fair course. Anybody want to shoot out some potential times for the 8, 16, and 32?
