Off-topic, I know.
I have done a few short-term (6-weeks to 3-months) contracts as a front end developer or UX designer. I may soon be offered a 1-year contract at a so-so pay rate. I am concerned that I will be more marketable in, say, 6 months and be tempted to bail on the then-existing contract for something higher-paying.
What penalties may be incurred for exiting a contract job early? I also realize that I am less likely to get any kind of recommendation if I leave some supervisor in a difficult situation, and I am currently grateful for the recommendations and references I have from the short-term contracts I fulfilled.
