So a little history of me:
Ran D1 track in college and it went well, but was a transitioning period for me from sprints to mid-d. Had a great last couple years and set some good PRs but still have a lot more potential to unlock. Have kept up the training at a high level, but since I work a more than fulltime job at a startup, I have to split my efforts a little too much.
Where I am at right now:
I won't mention numbers, but I PR'd this summer in the 800 with a decent time even with having to split my time with work. Main limiting factor is that I simply don't have enough time in the day to train, work and sleep decently enough to recover well. Work may get a little easier soon I hope but this is still a big unknown.
What I am planning:
I finally have enough money saved up to go and train with the best in Iten for a year. Why? Because if I'm going to do it I may as well go all in and leave all my distractions behind. The dream is to qualify for the Olympics or any other international games for Mexico.
So what's the issue?
The issue is completely based around the opportunity I am throwing away with the job I am working. If I were to stay I know I will have X amount of money almost gauranteed in a couple years which is a significant. I enjoy my work and what we are doing because frankly its mindblowing to see how we are developing.
So my question is, is it worth throwing away a golden ticket for the chase of the dream?
