Hey- So im a sophomore male with a 3min 1,000m pr and mile pr of 5 min. My goals this season was to drop 20 seconds off of both those prs because last year I ran those times with a stress fracture in my shin. Anyways, my coach is having distance guys run 20-30 miles per week and everyone on my team is improving but me. The workouts are extremely easy and feel like I am in really bad fitness. Should I run on my own? If i do run on my own.. what do I run? A modified harder workout that I did that day with my team or just 2-3 miles added on easy? Please help! I know I am good and over the off season I ran a 4:45 mile timed by my coach and last track meet I got a 5:15 and felt easy but I didnt feel like i could speed up. Thoughts? Thanks!
