I'm a senior in high school and I'm considering jumping at the d1 level next year. I was just wondering if anybody could tell me about their experience with collegiate high jump (or maybe just track). How much of your time did it take up? Did your grades suffer because of it? Were you able to still have a social life while being a part of a track team and trying to make good grades? Is participating in Greek life possible? Thanks.

Unless you absolutely suck at time management, yes.
Time commitment...Power 5 conference=big commitment but mid-major conference=not so much. Grades...Put your priorities in order and your grades will be fine. Social life...very manageable. Greek life...probably not (this is a good thing).
You have school, sport, and social. You can be solid in only two at one time. Which would you choose? If you really want to be well rounded with all three. try DIII.
I high jumped at a mid-major. We had one track coach, a distance guy, and he didn't give a rip about field events, so we were basically on our own and my time commitment was whatever I wanted it to be. Except for weekends at meets, I probably spent less time working out than the poser frat boys in the weight room. I was a goof off and wasted way more time on other stuff than I did on track.
So it was a blast! There was another high jumper and many of our workouts consisted of lengthy slam-dunk contests. Got to travel with the team and go to restaurants on the weekends. And we each won our conference meet at least once.
