My son is a high school freshman and outstanding quarterback who will likely be his school's varsity QB1 next fall. He currently runs a 5.0 - 5.1 hand timed 40. The coach wants him to get down to 4.7 if possible. He suggested my son run track in the spring.
As a lifelong distance runner I know little about developing sprint-speed. Would running the 400/800 help develop this explosive football speed? I know running the 100/200 would suffice, but since the school already has a handful of stud sprinters he'd probably run the longer sprints.
If you have a URL with a proven method, or personal experience with your kid, I'd love to hear. Thanks
