Nonsense...How many millions/billions of American taxpayers dollars do they get every year for everything from education to food stamps to free medical to housing....Weather they like it or not they are part of the US and they should be willing to do this tiny thing to benefit our country. If they are truly sovereign let them exist on their own without American welfare....
I'm hoping you're a troll.
They rely on such things because immigrants came to their country with better weapons and committed genocide against them, then gave them some of the least fertile lands in the nation as some sort of appeasement.
The biggest issue I see is that this is another environmental atrocity. And for those of you who love to come on here and say F the environment, humans are best, I will give you an anthropocentric reason why this is important.
Humans live downstream of areas there will be spills. Their water will be contaminated. These are often Republican voting, good Americans whose impression of American politics comes from oil-funded campaign smearing.
Humans fish. Fish with crude oil in them are now carcinogenic.
Humans rely on watering crops, which will be contaminated with cancer-causing water.
Humans rely on insects to pollinate their crops, which are already becoming modified to kill these insects. These insects will struggle even more to survive in the wild if wild plants are destroyed in the building of the pipeline and its aftermath.
In short, every time you mess with the environment, you are hammering the nail into the coffin just a slight bit more for human existence, price of food etc.
Not to mention the actual drilling in Canada, whose ecosystem actually extends into our own regardless of a line drawn on a parallel in our minds.
