My current job is awful. I hate it, and it's having a significant negative impact on the rest of my life. I've had much better jobs in the past that I enjoyed, so I know it's not just me. Problem is, there isn't much work where I currently live, at least not in the winter time. I'm considering quitting my current job and doing something menial for a few months until either summer hits (lots of work in my field) or my lease expires and I can move somewhere with more jobs (I currently live in a small town; there's much more work in my field elsewhere). I realize a lot of people will just say stick it out, but I'm miserable. I just wonder if anyone here has gone from something professional to stocking shelves or something like that for a few months and then successfully transitioned back to a professional job. How did it go? Would you recommend against it?
