Or is it below average for a what a 15-20 mpw'er should run for a 5k?

Depends heavily on your age, BMI, background in athletic and other non-sedentary activity, how long you've been running the mileage and what workouts made up the mileage. (And if this weren't LRC, gender.) If you were Michael Bradley (the USMNT midfielder) and you ran that, I'd be sorely disappointed. On the other hand, if you were Newman from Seinfeld, that'd be a huge accomplishment.

Depends on age, sex, etc.
I run 15-20 mpw and my 5k PR which was set a few weeks ago is 21:09. 25yo male. 6'4 170lbs.
15=20 MPW of only mileage?
It's probably better than average. I ran an 18:33 off of 15ish mpw last year. 23,6'1 and 147. The thing is, Don't take pride in running a time off low mileage. Try to be the best you can be. I'd rather run 160mpw and reach my potential than run a good time off low mileage and never even get near my potential. Good luck!
Makes me wonder how much those UConn b-ball players were running during the off-season.
The first several guys were probably doing some conditioning, and 20:22 is a decent time for a big guy. But 29:14? Was he sitting on the couch all summer?
(The article says 3.4 miles, so it's a bit longer than 5k. But still, 29 minutes?)
I ran 18:32 on 4.1 miles a week.
One mile warm up
Race 5k
Eliptical the rest of the week.
Now just 4 years later I'm running 50-70 mpw and my best 5k is 19:22.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
