Cold, yeah. But also very cool.
Awesome, laid back, open minded and fun
If you like the northern woods and small towns and a spectacularly athletic student body, it's incredibly good.
If you like cities and warmth and big schools, not so great.
Seriously - it is a small town and if you like it there you will be good. But it's not for everyone. And remember how small Dartmouth is - it feels more like a liberal arts college than behemoths like Penn and Cornell.
We alumni love it -- but most accept that other Ivies are more intellectual. It's a trade off.
non racist? no clue.
Liberal as a 3 dollar bill.
It's cold in the winter. Heck all the north east is freezing in the winter for that matter. You had better love snow and snow/ice related activities like skiing, snow shoeing, sledding, snow boarding, ice skating, snow ball fights, making snow angles and snowmen, ect. Or else it becomes a very, very long winter when you stay inside all day. The spring is muddy and resentfully cool. The summer on the other hand, nothing else like it. Beautiful, green and perfect.

Laura Ingrham graduated from that s-hole and she says it's a...s-hole, too! I actually agree after living in the Hanover area for many years in the 90's. Place is populated by a large number of immature ideologues and weekend/holiday hobby joggers.Shopping sucks. Restaurants suck. Weather sucks. Not a bad place to run though, if you're serious about your running AND you
like hills.
I grew up in the South and went to Dartmouth. Loved it. Winters (and spring!) were tough, but I regret nothing. I was not in a frat.

I'm from Mississippi too, but that frat article makes me see Dartmouth in a whole new light. I wonder if Abbey has ever been asked about the frat culture of Darmouth. Maybe she was apart of it??? Now that I think about it, Lexi Pappas seems like shes experience great trauma.
Ingraham thought it was a s--thole? Read up on her antics there. If it was a s--thole, she and her pal Dinesh did a lot to make it one.
Interesting. I've always thought Laura Ingraham was a sh!thole.
I was raped by three women at Dartmouth.

Are you specifically talking about the women now?
Full of gun-toting helmetless bikers and a fear of the communists on the other side of its Eastern border.
Dartmouth is an awesome place to go to college. Take what you hear on an anonymous message board with a grain of salt. I'd encourage you to contact the coach, speak with alumns / folks who considered Dartmouth for college, and plan a visit for yourself to see what it's like.
Any kind of portrayal of Dartmouth as a hotbed liberalism---usually by people who think anything to the Left of Bob Jones University is liberal --- is way off. Traditionally, it's one of the two most conservative campuses in the Ivy League, along with Cornell. I mean, you want "liberal," talk about Brown or Yale.
Winters are long and cold, but easy access to skiing make up for it. You really need a car if you go. Hanover is a nice little town, but there is not that much to do there. Boston is an easy drive and can be a great day trip or weekender. Montreal is about 4 hours by car and is a great place for a fun weekend trip. Skiing is all around you. Killington area is the closest big resort. But there are also a bunch of smaller and more accessible ski areas nearby (Dartmouth, Suicide Six, etc.). Lots of great spots for XC skiing too.
Most everywhere in NH and VT is piled high with tourists, but there are so many different places to go that nothing really gets that crowded and there are tons of places that are amazing trails, rivers, lakes etc. that are off the beaten path.
Dartmouth is a great school. There will be a bit of culture shock coming from the south and trying to figure out how to hang with a game of lacrosse, getting though a lobster dinner without soaking yourself with lobster juice and getting giggles when you screw up pronunciation of towns and lakes with Indian names. But, having spent a lot of time up in that area (parents retired to VT) and living in the south most of my life, I would hate for anyone from the south not to have the experience of being in that part of our country.
Too many democrats/fairies.
for you and the oregon salary guy, there is no such thing as "ect."
What you are thinking of is "etc." A good way to remember it is that it is short for the Latin "et cetera," meaning "and (et) the others (cetera)."
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
