Really???? 4 guys are splitting 27:40 (13:43 second 5k BTW).. I give up...
Winner was a 21 y.o. He was upset that he didn't run sub 58 for the half marathon (whether was not conducive to a fast time)...
This is crazy...

First - Since when did the Valencia Marathon start to produce fast times?
Second - WHO ARE THESE GUYS?
There has got to be some sort of a combination of a short course and doping involved.
*weather
Why wouldn't you provide the winning time?
Since you ask so nicely. Cheroben in 58:48...
Who the heck is he? Another random guy who runs the half marathon over 1 minute faster than Ritz, Bekele, Mo, Rupp (insert name of incredible runner who has dedicated 10 to 15 years of his life to running, and...)
One guy starting so fast is one thing, but 4 guys starting at that pace is scary...
We do understand that, for example, Cam Levins SB at 10,000 is 27:36 and his PB is only a few seconds faster than that... Cam won a bronze medal at CWG and was very close to the gold. He is training hard to, one day, maybe win a medal at the Olympics....
But here are 4 guys (including a 21 y.o.) who split 27:40 and then kept going for another 11.1k...
Cam's on the wrong drugs.
Cheroben:
“I’m satisfied with my win but I’m not totally happy because I was targeting a world record today. I’m convinced I can break the 58-minute barrier for the distance. Today’s temperature was a little bit hot for an endurance event like this, so conditions were good but no ideal"
Something's wrong when road racing is more fun to watch than track racing. I wish a quartet of runners would hit 1:48 in the middle of a 1500m, or 7:30 in a 5000m, or 13:05 in a 10000m. Have a whole group of people chase records, even going out faster than they should.
Ok, Cam would last about 10.5k (maybe) at that pace and then he would fall to the side of the road...
Rupp would last a little longer. Maybe 13 or 14 k...

Just shows how weak the track 10,000 is right now.
When guys like Rupp can medal, you know it's watered down.
perspective
only about 300 men have gone sub 27:40 on the track in a 10000m race.
fewer than 20 are Americans
26:44 is watered down?!

It is when 26,44 is world leading this year.

This isn't the first half marathon with 4 guys at 27:40.
Running with a tailwind during the first 10km, a very fast race quickly developed. After passing the 5 km mark in 13:39, a group of four runners - Kenyan pacemaker Vincent Rono leading his compatriots Komon, Cheroben and Daniel Chebii – reached the 10km point in 27:40.
That was from this race
http://www.iaaf.org/news/report/leonard-komon-berlin-half-marathonOver 6 months ago where Cheroban got 2nd place with 59:14.

levins best 10000 is 27:27 just a side note.

Rupp can probably go under 59 as well.
he just followed and got outkicked when he ran 60:30
If Rupp just went for time, he would likely be under 59.
After next track season Salazar should let Rupp run a loaded half marathon and give him instructions to run the first 10000 in 27:20-27:30 and dare anyone to go with him or come get him, if that happened Rupp would very well go under 59 and might even scare or dare I say it get the 58:33 world record of Zersenay Tadesse, 26:44 for 10000 being able to open up on top runners at the end of that is REAL ABILITY for anyone.
I meant 58:23 world record, apologies to Z. Tadesse for the typo shortchanging him 10 seconds.
looked up Z. tadese ran 27:53 for 10000 when he ran the half marathon world record his 20k time was 55:21 so he ran his 2nd 10000 in 27:28
So it is not unreasonable for Rupp to go 27:20-27:30 at 10000 and with more even pacing get the record.
is there a mark for a half marathon on the track?

Ummmm, no. Rupp would be lucky to break 60. Sub 59, not a chance in hell.
