do you know how to swim all of the strokes?
Depends on the kind of injury. Ten years of club swimming under my belt. I'd say that only thing I haven't had to recover from was a joint dislocation.
Knowing all the different strokes is a non factor unless you're planning on building upper body strength.
Logically not too much short fast stuff as it will build up your upper body.
If you can swim a bit, do an easy warm-up then do reps of 100-200m. 100m might take you 90 secs. Have short recoveries - 30-60 secs.
Another one I've had suggested to me is doing 50s, but breathe on the 2nd stroke, then the 4th, then the 6th, then the 8th, then down to 2nd, 4th etc. Might be a lot to think about while you swim but it's a good aerobic workout.
Depending on the injury, you could do some anaerobic work in the pool too. Stand where the water is up to the top of your shoulders, then spring on the spot (high knees) for 40 secs, rest 20 secs, do it for 10 mins.
There's a lot you can do in the pool to help you whilst injured.

It makes a difference in what kinds of workouts to post.

Use a kickboard so that you don't overdo the upper body.
