The team is loaded with talent and they place 10th at a mediocre invitational? WHat is wrong with them? bad coaching? http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=22401&SPID=1831&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=209680587&DB_OEM_ID=4200

It's a shame. Wesley Frazier has so much potential.
I think we need to wait until after the ACCs and Regionals before we pass judgment of the new coach.
Well the Meier's were mainly mid-distance studs in HS. The better one was a solid XC runner but the other was a bit more average, never broke 18 her Junior or Senior years and ran 18:32 her senior year at the state meet. Frazier had an insane senior year with huge improvements, when was the last time that translated to a great start to college. I bet she'll put it together and the twins will be solid in Track just don't know if I ever see them becoming an XC power.

I agree with everything you said, but 10th place should be unacceptable under any circumstance. I assumed they held out some runners, but they raced their full squad.

It was hardly a "mediocre invitational" but rather probably the most competitive women's meet in the country that weekend. National rankings, going into the meet: No. 1 Michigan, No. 5 Georgetown, No. 14 Syracuse, meet host No. 17 Boston College, defending national champion No. 18 Providence, and No. 25 Dartmouth. In addition, nine of the top-ten ranked teams in the (very strong) Northeast Region were there.
The coach has a good record of developing athletes. What I don't know is when she was chosen for the job. If it was after the meet schedule was set, then there wasn't much she could do about it; and that meet schedule is my only real quibble: I realize that many teams compete less frequently than they used to, but that schedule is *really* attenuated. (Wisco will be only the women's third meet of the season--and the first one was back in August!) OTOH if the new coach *did* get to make up the schedule, it's possible that it matches her plan for the team.
In other words, and echoing a previous post: new coach. How about we collect more data before judging?
The real question is why are Duke MEN so bad? This past weekend Virginia, Furman and Iona put 7 men in front of their number 1. That is an absolute beat down! Great academics, great place to train, and a coach who has been in pace for over 20 years, yet they get swept by the top 3 teams and lose to Regional competitors High Point, Liberty, William & Mary, and Wake Forest.
This is the Duke team that sucks. The women will get it figure out. They have a new coach. The men have no excuse!

Here Here...
Meier twins need to get out of there.
new coach has no experience whatsoever with national class female runners.
Well, we got our answer this morning. They were bad a month ago and are bad now.
The Duke women's team struggled to a 10th place in the ACC Meet.
This result will not help recruiting at the National level !

Exactly what special experience do you need to train national class female runners? Training is training
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
