Hey there,
I got a stress fx in my calcaneus and a 5th metatarsal "stress reaction" back in late June from poor form, old shoes and increasing my mileage too fast. I spent 6 weeks in an aircast and thought I was healing a couple weeks ago so came out of the boot. Instead of having pain with every step, I felt it with certain movements, like touching my toes.
I returned back to work along with only elliptical at the gym and one fast-paced walk and pain, and swelling has returned. I'm not feeling it with every step, but every few. What's odd is the stress reaction pain in my toe has never improved but I've been told it's not even a real fx. I've been icing, using KT tape, taking my calcium/Vit D and can only wear Asics or I feel it.
So 12 weeks post injury and I'm beyond frustrated. Forget running, I just want to walk and work without pain at this point. I'm beside myself.
Can anyone offer a real timeline for healing with such an injury. Does it sound like I may have a nonunion of the bone? I have a follow up next week is another MRI a good idea or is this normal?
Thanks
