Happy Labor Day weekend! up and down week. The up was that I survived the first week of classes and had a good week of running including:
6 X 800 (200 jog recoveries) at 3-5k effort (2:56 progressing to 2:49, average 2:51) Tuesday
5k race rolling/fairly-fast road course 17:57 (24th OA, 3rd AG) Saturday
On the downside, I have to think of a new way to introduce myself to strangers. I used to always say "Dave Haaga, M45-49 event record holder for the 5,000 at the Potomac Valley Games", which would usually bring the conversation to a halt, limiting the number of new names I need to learn.
But yesterday Francis Burdett took down the record (by a lot) with a 16:27. Thanks a lot, Francis. But, congratulations also.
Have a great week,
Dave
