lately, both my ankles have been getting sore as my mileage increases. Usually after a longer 10+ mile run, they feel like I've laced my laces too tight around the ankles. There is also some pain when I take my shoes off and rotte my ankles in various directons. Never felt anything like it before and had somewhat of an indidous onset until I noticed it. That night and the next day, the ankles are still sore and I have to take it slow when walk.
The only things that come to mind is that I recently began wearing altra shoes when have a zero dorp. I also started striking more with my midfoot as opposed to the hill. I did this because I'm just getting over a PTT injury earlier this year as a result from dropped arches. My PT suggested I look into it. The other thing I'm not sure about is that the MRI I got revealed some mild OA of the foot are but it was more of in the toe region. I'm thinking this might have something to do with it. Everything I read about switching to a zero drop say it stress out the achilles, but do the achilles involve the ankles?
Any ideas anyone? I've been trying to do figure this out and the pain is aggravating me.
