My app to track your run with (precise) altitude variations: know how many feet/meters you climbed

I couldn’t get my hands on a free and simple enough android app that properly accounts for altitude variations (gps is a bit lacking for that). I therefore wrote my own app and I would really like to get some feedback from other runners. It shows your track on a map like many other apps out there but it is simple to use and it calculates your elevation variations with very good precision so you can have a real idea of of many meters/feet you climbed up and down. Exporting kml or gpx is simple to do. I also just added a simple way to put a time or distance limit.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Where do you get the data to calculate this?

If you're using public data to get the elevation data, then I don't think you're any more accurate than Garmin or Strava.

Also, what precision to you go to?

More importantly than precise, is your altitude accurate?

I don't know what he does specifically, but various map services (e.g. google maps, mapquest) have an elevation api.

The Garmin Forerunner app can apply map based altitude corrections only after data is uploaded from the watch and which does significantly improve upon the elevation accuracy. I asked for clarification in the duplicate version of this thread, but I presume the innovation here is that applying elevation corrections in near real time using the Android device's data connection to the map service. The improvement mostly comes more from filtering out spurious jumps in the GPS measured altitude rather than any great accuracy of the elevation data service. Elevation services have a problem with things like bridges where they will puts the track at earth service level rather than bridge surface level.
