Into a -1.6 headwind!!!
Into a -1.6 headwind!!!
Officially 19.98, kinda ruins the title. Gold medal over Christophe Lemaitre. But wow, what could he do on a warm dry day without the headwind.

Lol
Why was Lemaitre put into lane 3 when he was the 2nd fastest qualifier? Should be either lane 4 or 5 no? He is real bad from the inside lanes. Conspiracy against French?

Are you crazy?! EVERYONE knows it is a random draw for lanes 3-6 for the 4 top qualifiers. No one is "put into lanes".
Gonna be crazy. Gemili has so much upside in the 200.
It's a real treat in my opinion anytime a guy goes under 20 in the 200m. Awesome job to Adam Gemili!

Thank you for the title. I LOLed.
Awww I really wanted Lemaitre to get an individual title =(
O well great result for Gemili

Is sub 20 supposed to be impressive? The top runners (none of them present in the pathetic European 200m race of course) are half a second quicker.

Might be a frivolous stat, but this the biggest headwind (-1.6) anyone has EVER broken 20 in. Tyson Gay and Lorenzo Daniel have run 19.96 and 19.93 respectively with a -1.5. And it's cold and rainy!
Really? How is sub-20 _not_ impressive? According to IAAF, only 51 guys EVER have broken 20 before today in wind-legal conditions.
Furthermore, the number of guys who are a half-second quicker (sub-19.49) is 3. That's it. Only 3 guys have ever run under 19.49. Check your facts and attitude, sub-20 is great!

I don't think the headwinds were too kind to Lemaitre's lightweight body this week
He will get one eventually

Funny how the Commonwealth Games 200m, which featured the Jamaicans, including an Olympic medalist, was significantly slower. Nobody came close to breaking 20 seconds in the final there, even with a tailbreeze.
I could say that was "pathetic". But "telling" would be a more accurate adjective.

Also funny how three athletes got busted at the Commonwealth Games... the testers really were on their game at CWG
Gemili is consistently brilliant. Does anyone know what his schedule is for the rest of the diamond series?
How long before LPD the racist troll mentions BUTTTT he's not White.....

He looked amazing on the bend and what surprised me more was that Lemaitre didn't seem to gain any ground on him once they hit the straight (Lemaitre looked awful in the slow mo, he seemed like he was flailing)
If Adam Gemili is white then all those 911 terrorists were white.Gemili is closer
to them than he is to any Euro white.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
