I just wonder what happened to these guys after they stomped me silly in 86.

Wassup Paul Thomas?
Cliff Dwelle (Lake Orion, MI) made it as a freshman? I was from Michigan about that time and I don't recall ever hearing that name. Did he ever go on to accomplish more in running?
Williams has a company called Run Safer http://www.runsafer.com/

Cliff Dwelle ran 4:10-11 in the 1600m as a junior or senior at State Meet (1986) beating Todd Williams (who had been undefeated in the State that year in XC, indoor and outdoor). Todd ran about 4:12/9:12 that year I think (his junior track season).
This spoiled Todd's attempt at a double win, but I believe he got it the next year?
I think I have everything square there? Not trying to smear anyone, just fill you in on Cliff Dwelle.
That was a State Record for the State Meet 1600m, even though Steve Elliott had run 4:07y in the 70s.
Poor Eric Henry is about 300 lbs.
I don't think that the year is correct for Cliff Dwelle? I thought he beat Williams in the 1600 at State when Williams was a junior (1986 track season)?
That would have put him in 8th grade?
Maybe I have the year wrong and I saw this in 1987 (Todd's senior yr)?
I remember it being a shocking upset? It is possible that he ran 4:11 as a freshman, but I doubt it.
I don't remember him being a big deal (or even in HS) in 1988, 89 or 90 and other big stars were in school at that time (Grosso). So I think that "9" next to his name is wrong.
But it's possible, Lake Orion has put out some great runners. (Tom Greenless).
Isn't Marc Davis with the B.A.A.?
Davis works in running media tied with the Boston Marathon, Williams got into martial arts and started a business training women to fight off rapists when they are out on a run. I think Eric Henry is in the military.
I think Marc Davis was the first male runner to qualify for Kinney every year in high school.
Rueben Reina is a physical therapist now. Bob Kennedy owns a running store franchise, Mark Mastiler has a major job in promotions for a major Professional Sports team.
The last I heard Marc Dani was working in computers as a systems analyst in Wall Street.
Davis did a really entertaining interview with the Competitor Radio guys last spring just before the Carlsbad 5000. funny, laid-back guy.

Dang, that dead last guy was over 2 minutes behind the winner.
Whaa Happing!
Davis was an absolute animal in high school. Would've broken Reina's record @ Morley had he not celebrated the last 150. Can't remember a guy who got so fired up for races and just destroyed people. San Diego High/Arizona. Was also a decent drummer. Good interview. Sounds like he has come full circle and has no qualms about any of it.
I ran against Todd & Cliff and we were all on Michigans "Midwest meet of Champions" team that ran against OH, IN, and IL back then (Pretty sure it was seniors only - class of 87)-- so it was a misprint listing him as a frosh.
Cliff did beat Todd at States in the 1600 (87) and again at Midwest as I recall. Todd was the hardest working runner in the State back then, by far I believe, and Cliff probably had the most talent (of the 87 class) Dwelle went on to Central Michigan U and after his freshan year I never seen his name in any rusults again. Both were super cool dudes!
When Davis ran 8:12 for two miles and beat Kahlid Skah in Europe that still has to be the last American to win a distance race at that level over the mile other than Lagat.

Rupp's indoor 3000m AR last year and his 10,000m AR at the Pre Classic this year don't count?

Also Paul Thomas, Rancho Cordova, CA was not in the South.

MARK Mastalir recently started working for Hoka One One.
I don't believe that Davis ran Kinney every year... Did Bryan Dameworth make it all four years? One of the Torres brothers?

Don't know who Khalid Skah was? So much for your knowing it all.
Guess who was sitting pretty in 9th place as a junior and was beating the shit out of Adam Goucher?
Todd Williams recently finished his second degree in black belt of Ju jitsu. He has a company about running safe, and does speaking engagements. If you want to call Todd a nit wit to his face, I'm sure it would have an interesting outcome.
